The young man we see in the picture above is CEO Chairman Kwadwo Sarfo Kantanka Junior. At present he heads the Kantanka Car Industry Group. His sister, Sarah Adwoa Safo, is involved in politics concerning “Kristo Asafo Project” also known as “Apostle Safo School of Arts and Sciences” and the father Kantanka Senior has his fingers in both operations and much, much more. His workers and family are grateful for what their Messiah has helped them see and accomplish. In the frames that follow we will show you why Kantanka’s engineering and design are such unique innovations in the auto industry. If you click on the two pictures above you will see the young Chairman being interviewed by two different reporters. © Claude Lockhart Clark June 06, 2015

On this page we are only going to explore automotive issues. We won’t discuss other Kantanka products here. Those products will be cover in another chapter.

Look closely at the two front bucket seats in the interior of the car. They both have kente clothe panels going down the center of each bucket. This is what we are looking for in the new technology coming from Africa. Western culture just isn’t good enough by itself. Any Western product should have a stamp of cultural identity of the place from which that product originated. Western Civilization should serve only as a connecting link between other cultures and civilizations so that we all have a global conduit by which we communicate and share services; products across a unified platform.

The assembly plant portion has two divisions; regular commercial production and custom production so that if client wanted added or changed features to the standard model then that can be accomplished. For example the fabric on either side of the kente strips has the company star in side the diamonds. Those stars could be replaced adinkra symbols without changing the color; using one to three of a client’s choice to establish a desired design. Similar custom features can be added to the back seat and cloth side panels in the front and back of vehicle. The kente cloth strip, running down the center of each bucket seat, has meaning as well. The separate colors each have their meaning. The same colors combined on the same cloth convey a different meaning. Each pattern tells a story.

Going back to adinkra, each symbol by itself represents a proverb. Two or more symbols combine establishes another meaning. The company can produce a simple portfolio with adinkra and kente matches since most of us are illiterate and can not read African iconography. This car company will be the first company to have symbolic meaning and interpretations that no other car company on the face of the planet earth will. Outside the area of meaning and idea there are some structural elements that need to be addressed as well.

If you click on the picture displaying the interior of the car you will get a story connected with that photograph. The Twitter icon and Facebook pages are official Kantanka pages and the flag displays an official Kantanka dot com web site. Vimeo has many videos about Kantanka products.

In the next two pictures show a new body of an automobile being worked and cast metal part for cars. Some of the cast items are made of steel. The furnaces have to be capable of producing a temperature high enough to melt iron and produce steel. Kantanka has the infrastructure for doing that.

The cast items are raw material before there is any milling done to the parts. Notice the metal parts don’t reveal any flashing of metal as a result of faults resulting from pouring metal or weak seams in casting blocks. There is no metal debris to chase from the cast. This is important in that the cast parts probably do not have air bubbles or air pockets. There is less chance of part failure resulting from heating or metal fatigue in weak sections of a cast.

Kantanka is one of the few places in Africa capable of designing, casting and tooling any type of industrial machines or equipment. We will see later that Kantanka casts parts for equipment that they don’t even have. Which indicates that they make money in casting and tooling industry for other companies in Ghana that don’t have the capacity or infrastructure for doing that type of work.

The picture of man working on car body you can see bright red frames on either the car body. That is a car rack that you are looking at. The manufacturing will be done in a new assembly plant just completed. There are only four racks inside the entire car plant. If you click on that you will have a chance to see inside the new assembly plant. The assembly plant is large enough to house about twenty to thirty car racks. Instead of taking the cars out in the rain to test-drive, the drivers are driving around inside the assembly plant because it is almost empty. There is hardly anything inside there yet. The plant with out the other racks has enough room to test-drive two SUV’s at the same time.

The interview with Kantanka, concerning the car plant, is being conducted in a mixture Akan, Pidgin English, and Standard English languages. There is enough information between the languages for you to understand what is going on in the interview.

In the first picture, on the left, son CEO Chairman Kwadwo Sarfo Kantanka Junior was an airplane pilot before coming to work for his father. He now takes full charge or the car division of Kantanka Enterprises. The father, shown in the next picture on the right, Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Sarfo Kantanka Senior is founder of Kantanka Enterprises. Kantanka Senior is a practicing minister; art, science and technology instructor. Kantanka is building contractor and inventor of all the products developed by the Kantanka Industry and he is a businessman.

Kanatanka has its own computer, arts and technology school for young students. Some of Kantanka’s former students teach the classes. The students when finished at the school go on to Universities owned and run by the Ghanaian government for advanced training and degrees.

Kantanka Senior has been trying to get government subsidies to help with financing the industrial school. The government has not responded yet. For several decades Kantanka tried to get a license to manufacture cars from the Ghanaian government. The son, Kantanka Junior, was able to get a license to manufacture cars in 2015.
