The people in this part of West Coast Africa, which inclueds Sierra Leon, Ivory Coast and Liberia, are rice farmers. Many Africans were made slaves and brought to North America for the purpose of developing rice farming for the British. The British and Europe did not farm rice and the Britich need agricultural products unknown to Europe that could grown and sold to Europe.
